Bluetooth multimeter app · iPhone & Android · Works offline

Every point, in order. One clean record.

TestNMeasure turns your Bluetooth multimeter into a guided test. Define the points once, capture each reading with one tap (or none, with auto-capture), see pass or fail on the spot, and finish with an Excel or PDF report.

Free, and good at it

A proper meter app first.

Open it next to your OWON and you get a better daily driver than the stock app: a big readout that shows which digits have settled, a live graph one swipe away, hold, min/max/avg, rolling averages, REL for your test leads, and one-tap capture with a note, photo or voice memo. Export any session as CSV. No account needed.

Meter screen: 1.297 volts DC, auto-range, with minimum 1.291, average 1.2958 and maximum 1.299 over 412 readings, and the 5, 30 and 60 second averages. A swipe switches the readout to a live graph.

  • Honest readout

Settled digits bright, changing digits dim. Nothing smoothed, nothing rounded. OL shows as OL.

  • Number ↔ graph

Swipe the readout for a live graph. Pinch to zoom, tap the trace for a value.

  • Hold · Min · Max · Avg

Freeze the display without touching the meter. Stats reset when the function changes, not when it autoranges.

  • Rolling averages

5, 30 and 60 second averages that pause when you lift the probes.

  • REL and scaling

Zero out lead resistance, or scale a clamp adapter or shunt with your own factor. The raw reading is always kept.

  • Capture with context

One tap saves the reading. Add a label, a note, up to five photos or a voice memo.

  • Logs and time series

Record every reading, or one every 1, 5 or 60 seconds, even with the screen locked. Auto-record when the value is steady.

  • Quick CSV

Any session or test file to CSV, including semicolon and tab-delimited variants.

  • Demo meter

No meter yet? The built-in demo meter runs every feature.

Free: everything above, with no time limit and no account. Pro adds the sequence recorder, custom formulas, Excel and PDF reports, sync and the web app.

The job nobody built a tool for

You measure the same 50 points, in the same order, every time. Then you re-key it all into Excel by hand.

  1. 01

A clipboard in one hand, a meter in the other. Skip a row and a value lands on the wrong line.

  2. 02

Photos for evidence end up loose in the camera roll, detached from the reading they prove.

  3. 03

An evening of re-typing into a spreadsheet, and transcription errors creep in.

  4. 04

An out-of-spec value? You often spot it while re-keying, too late to re-measure on site.

The sequence recorder Pro

Turn your procedure into a guided test.

Define the points once as a template. Run it live: the app shows the next point, takes the reading when it's steady, checks it against your limits and moves on. Finish with one clean test file.

Step 01: Build it once

List your points in order, grouped the way your drawing is: Cable 1, Cable 2, J3. Paste a 500-row pin table from Excel, or generate labels like J1-A → J14-A and skip I, O and Q. Set the expected function and pass/fail limits per step, or measure one step across 25 identical pins. Templates are versioned, so an old record never changes meaning.

Template builder: Connector J3, Continuity and Voltage, version 3, 50 steps. Cable 1 lists step 5 pin 12 to ground, step 6 pin 13 to ground, step 7 pin 14 to ground (selected), each DC volts 11.4 to 12.6 volts; step 8 pin 15 to shield and step 9 pins 16 to 40 to ground over 25 channels, each ohms at most 0.5 ohms.

Step 02: Capture and advance, or let it capture itself

Turn on auto-capture, touch the pin and hold still. The reading is taken the moment it's stable, and anti-jitter is built in: a value flickering between 27.8 and 27.9 records as one steady reading. Lift the probes and the next point is armed. Pass or fail shows instantly. Redo a pin later and every attempt is kept.

  • Instant pass/fail. Green tick or red cross with the reason ("above max 0.5 Ω") the moment you capture.
  • Hands-free capture. Stable readings capture themselves; lifting the probes arms the next point. Or capture when you press HOLD on the meter.
  • Forward, back, recheck. Jump to any point from the rail; failed points are one tap away.
  • OL and UL aware. Over-range is recorded as OL, never as a number.
  • Wrong function? It tells you. "Meter on AC V, step expects DC V" before you capture.
  • Typed values and check steps. Enter a value by hand or tick "Backshell torqued" in the same run.
  • Nothing lost. Every capture is saved before the tick. A crash, a dead battery or a phone call and you resume at the same step.

Step rail of eight points: seven pass and the fourth fails with the reason "above max 0.5 Ω".

Step 03: One clean record

Finish and the run becomes a test file: every value, every pass and fail, every note and photo, with a summary on top. Export it, share it, or tap Start next unit to run the same template on the next serial number.

Run summary: first FAIL, 50 steps, 49 passed, 1 failed; after the redo PASS, 50 of 50, 1 redo.

Built around a 500-point job

An aviation harness technician checks every cable three times: after lead-out, after the connectors go on, and again in the aircraft before power-on. A connector can carry 129 pins, a job is about 500 results, and there's no internet on the hangar floor. He asked for three things: a preloaded connector file, forward/back/recheck, and a steady reading instead of a flickering one.

"It would save 6 hours every week."

from an aviation harness technician's requirements, 2015–16

The run loop is designed for that job: pin tables with headers, auto-capture per pin, one hand on the probes, fully offline.

Start from a template:

  • Connector continuity
  • Harness pin table
  • 12 V battery & charging
  • Li-ion pack cells
  • PCB power-rail bring-up
  • 3-phase motor windings
  • Mains outlet check
  • Solar panel quick check
  • Quick 10-point log

Free users can import a shared template and try the sequence recorder on their first test runs.

Calculator · presets free · formulas Pro

A calculator that knows your measurements.

Measure 1.5 V across a resistor, switch to Ω and measure 10 Ω, then open Calc: Ohm's law is already filled in, 150 mA and 225 mW. Presets for power, dividers, series and parallel, LED resistors, RC, dB and deviation are free. With Pro, write your own formulas and put them inside templates: the drop between two pins, the average across 25 channels, the deviation from nominal. They calculate live, per capture or when the run finishes.

step("Pin14") − step("Pin13")
step("V") × step("I")
avg(ch("Pins 16–40", 1..25))
(live − nominal("Rail 3V3")) / nominal("Rail 3V3") × 100

Calculator: readings 1.5 volts, 10.0 ohms, 1.543 volts and 500.0 ohms. Suggested Ohm's law: 1.5 volts divided by 10.0 ohms is 150 milliamps, power 225 milliwatts. Two Pro derived values: voltage drop between pin 14 and pin 13, 2.41 volts, live; average resistance of channels 16 to 40, 0.31 ohms, on finish.

Reports and sharing

Walk away with a record, not a photo of a notebook.

Finish a run and export an Excel report laid out the way you'd build it by hand: a header block, one row per point, real numbers, PASS/FAIL cells and a summary. Or export a PDF with your company header, notes, photos and a sign-off block. CSV is free for everything. Everything leaves through your phone's normal share sheet: mail, Teams, Drive, AirDrop, Nearby Share, Files.

Share the procedure, not just the result. Send a template as a .tnmt file and a colleague can import it and run it, free. Send a whole test file as .tnmr, with every reading, attempt and photo, and it opens read-only in their app.

Meters

OWON first. Your meter next.

TestNMeasure launches with live Bluetooth support for the OWON OW18B and OW18E. Any other instrument (clamp meter, thermometer, insulation tester, gas detector) works on day one: type its value into the same step and the report marks it as manual. Live support is added one meter at a time, and only after it has been tested on real hardware.

Offline on site · the web at your desk Pro

Capture on your phone. Work the data on the web.

Everything on the phone works with no signal: underground, behind shielding, on a hangar floor where phones stay offline. Back at your desk, your test files, logs and templates sync to the web app. Search your records, fix a typo as a new revision (the original is kept), build long templates in a spreadsheet-style grid with paste from Excel, and export.

  • iPhone, Android and web on one account. Mix platforms freely.
  • No passwords. Sign in with Apple, Google or a code sent to your email.
  • Your data, your call. Exporting all your data and deleting your account are free, always.
  • The web app doesn't connect to meters. Capture happens on the phone.

Web app in a browser at app.testnmeasure.app/test-files: a list of test files (Connector J3, Panel B commissioning, Harness QA batch 41, Inverter bring-up) and a detail view of Connector J3 version 3, 47 of 50 captured, revision 2, with an Export .xlsx button.

Heritage

Since 2013: from Voltset to TestNMeasure.

We started in 2013 by building our own connected multimeter, Voltset, with a phone app built around a ring-shaped dial. The colours on this page (the red, the charcoal, the two blues and the yellow) come from its 2014 identity, unchanged.

Building safe, certifiable meter hardware turned out to be much harder than building the software. What lasted was what technicians kept telling us: the meter isn't the problem. The clipboard is.

So TestNMeasure is software only, for Bluetooth meters you can already buy. Same ring, same palette, many more conversations with the people who use it. One app to bind them all.

FAQ

Which multimeters does TestNMeasure work with?

At launch, live Bluetooth support is for the OWON OW18B and OW18E. Other OWON BDM-series meters use the same protocol and may work, but we list a meter as supported only after testing it on real hardware. Any other instrument can be used by typing its readings into the app. See the supported meters page.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Connecting to the meter, capturing, templates, test runs, the calculator and every export work without a network. You only need a connection to sign in, sync, use the web app or make a purchase.

Is it available for iPhone and Android?

Both, as native apps with the same features, planned for iOS 17 or later and Android 8.0 or later. The web app is for reviewing and exporting records and building templates; it doesn't connect to meters.

Do I need an account?

No. Every free feature works without one. An account (Sign in with Apple, Google or an emailed code) is only needed for sync, the web app and using Pro across devices.

What happens to my measurement data?

It stays on your phone unless you turn on sync. With sync, it's stored encrypted on our servers in the EU and is never sold or used for advertising. The app's optional usage statistics never include reading values, names, notes, photos or locations, and you can turn them off. Details are in the privacy policy.

Which export formats are there?

CSV for everything, free (including semicolon and tab-delimited variants). Excel (.xlsx) and PDF test reports with Pro. Templates and complete test files can be shared as .tnmt and .tnmr files between TestNMeasure users.

Can I try it without a meter?

Yes. The built-in demo meter behaves like a real one, including a 50-pin harness scenario, so you can try capture, test runs and exports first.

How much does Pro cost?

Pro is an in-app upgrade on the App Store and Google Play, and the app shows the price in your currency before you buy. The free meter app stays free.

Is TestNMeasure made by OWON?

No. TestNMeasure is made by Blaris ApS in Denmark and is not affiliated with or endorsed by OWON. OWON is a trademark of its owner.

Can I use it for mains or high-voltage work?

TestNMeasure only reads what your meter measures; it doesn't change how the meter works. Use a meter and leads rated for the job, and follow your local safety rules. You set the pass/fail limits; a test file is your record, not a certification.
